Marble Floor Cleaning

Marble is a natural stone that can be damaged by certain chemicals. Great care is therefore needed to preserve the appearance of a marble floor.

Routine Cleaning

Avoid multi-purpose cleaning agents as over time they may damage the surface and cause the floor to lose its natural sheen.For daily cleaning use a mild prouct with a neautral PH level (around 7) but you may have to shop around for one that is effective at cleaning at cleaning every day spillages such as tea, coffee, soft drinks and milk.

Deep Cleaning

For a heavily soiled marble floor you'll need a relatively high alkaline cleaning product in order to cut through the build up of grime. Deep cleaning of this kind has the sole aim of removing residues which have been left behind from daily activities, however, you should only use these types of cleaning products occasionally and with a great deal of care as they have the potential to permantly mark the surface of the marble.The best type of cleaning product to use for deep cleaning is a mild alkaline (PH 9) based substance specifically designed for cleaning marble floors. Always read the directions first to avoid damaging the stone.

For persistant stains which just won't go away then as a last resort use a stain remover.Do not use stain remover on a regular basis as it damage the floor

Protect Your Floor

Brush your marble floors regularly as dust and grime can damage the surface. during periods of adverse weather it might be an idea to place running mats along major traffic routes across your marble flooring. Clean up any spillage immediately to prevent it becoming engrained in your marble floor
